It is the main entrance to the charming medieval village of Campofilone. Characterized by an elegant pointed arch and Ghibelline battlements, the gate was restored and partially modified in the 18th century. Originally, it was a true defensive tower with a drawbridge, armory and loopholes from which boiling water or oil was poured on enemies.
The exterior façade features the town’s heraldic coat of arms and a lamb, symbolizing the church’s protection. Recently restored and enhanced by the charming avenue of centuries-old pine trees that precedes it, it is now the identifying symbol of Campofilone, welcoming visitors and travelers with its timeless charm.
